11 September: research 10 images and texts

Today we need to work on reasearch.
The task is to go to the library on the 4th floor and find 10 images and 2 texts from books and journals. Also the task require these images and text should be relate to our objcets or ideas generated by the day's tasks.

I thought a lot about WHO AM I, what I like, what I don't and what I want from the future. This passport force me to stop and think about me.

When I goes  to the library I found few books about italian designer. Most of them are about Interior design or product design. Altough I'm not really interested in a carreer in this path, I am very curious about the process of the development of the idea.

I think the choise about the Italian designer was appropriate because my nationality influences my ideas and my acts in many ways.

After few book about Italian designer, I found tens of journal and books about Typography. I really love the fonts and the calligraphy, so I decided to pick up some fonts I found very interesting, both for their graphics and their age.

Looking at the book, I choose one from an artist named Amin Milani, who took drawing from real in the underground ("London underground diary - 45 life drawings from Londoners Underground).
I loved the sketch and the style. Just when I went home and I check the name of the artist to discover where is from (Milani sounds like an Italian surname), I discovered he's a senior lectures at Ravensbourne! I was speechless.

I found interesting also a book I have at home about anatomy for fantasy drawing and the architecture of a house.

In my research I found a very interesting similarity (just for not using the word plagiarism).
In the 1936 Giuseppe Terragni, an Italian designer, creates "Follia", a chair made in steel and wood.
If you cut out the back of the chair, you can see it's looks identical to the Ikea's table "Lack".

This the scan of my research from my sketchbook:

INSERT PHOTO!!!

For me, not used to do research, it was a discovery very exiting!

This the images of the chair and below the Ikea's table.

This what I choose:

I love the way Aldo Rossi, an italian designer sketch this wardrobe.

(Aldo Rossi, "Cabina dell'Elba" wardrobe, 1980)

I choose the photo of this chair because this design it still in use.
(Giancarlo Piretti "Plia, folding and stacking chair" 1967)

I choose to take a photo of this book because I bought few years ago.
