The teacher give on
postcard to each of us. I receive a postcard of Rosemarie Trockel,
named “Freude” (1988).
Rosemarie Trockel is a German important
figure in the Contemporary art. She approaching different topic, from
femminism to human body.
She experiments a lot with different
component, knitting, fabric, sewing, even spider under the influence
of drugs (that's both weird and cool).
This piece of art
looks like be a fabric, sewed. It's an element repeated and that's
make me very “confortable” with this postcard. I love the
pattern, the simmetry and the logic in the art.
The text really
bother me because, for me, is writed in a wrong way; this make my
anxious really high. My primary instinct is trying to turn the
postcard.
All the works looks
in the wrong way because of the text.
It can be related to the nautical ceramic (like plates, bowls, etc..) I have seen in a museum in Milan, but I really don't understand what she want communicate with this piece of art. I really don't understand why she use a text in the wrong way and this make me very unconfortable.
Following a teacher's advice, I used a mirror to check the word. Freud. It mean Joy in German.

Maybe she write
“Joy” in contrary way because the ship is leaving from the port.
Maybe she suffer for the departure of someone very important in her life. I don't understand the reason of this choice, but it's not sure there's a proper reason in this piece of art. On possibility is she want just experiment with word, pattern, color and material. In this case she his successfull in my case, she give me something to think about, she give me sensation (even qhen are not all good, but it's the great part of the art).
In conclusion, I don't undestand the reason of her choise, but I think she's a great artist, because she take risk, she try to engage people, she experiment with new material. And I think this is the main core for the Art.
